Vocational Skills Training
One of our economic empowerment approaches is to provide vocational training to our disadvantaged target groups in order to increase their self-employment and career opportunities. Our vocational skills training centre provides basic and advanced computer training, brick making and GSM handset repair training to enable local youth, women and PLWHA to gain skills and, in many cases, practical, on-the-job training, to increase their self-employment and other employment opportunities.
Our rural based setting allows our local community members to access these courses, which would only normally be available in urban locations. In fact, the Academy was specifically set up to meet the aspirations of rural candidates who are unable to afford the cost of attending the urban based academies. All of our courses run at reduced tuition rates, and we strive to balance out gender inequity by providing scholarships for women.
